This is a short video of one of our class in Nakameguro. In Krav Maga we train to defend against all sort of attacks from all possible positions and specially from position of disadvantage.
Gakugei Daigaku studio on Saturday afternoon. Defending against 2 attackers, one of them choking the defender from behind with a headlock.
Since November we started new classes in Yokohama. For the moment we run 2 hours every Tuesday evening but we plan to have more classes in the near future. However, students who registered in Yokohama can also train in Tokyo's studios if they want and vice versa. So, with one registration students can train in any of our studios.
Attacker attacks with a straight low stick stab to the abdomen.
Defense with moving to the live side:
Deflect the stick with the left hand (hand defense) while moving your body to the left side (body defense), catch the stick with your right hand (control the weapon) while stepping to the left (out of the channel of attack) and kick the groin with your right leg (first counterattack), continue with a hand strike to the face (second counterattack), then catch the stick with 2 hands and disarm the attacker (neutralize the attack), scan and move away from the danger zone.
It is also possible to move to the dead side of the attacker, in which case the defender executes the same principle of defense but in the opposite direction.

In the streets troublemakers rarely hang out alone, so once you got caught into a fight with one of them you must be ready to deal with more than one. In Krav Maga defending against multiple aggressors is an essential part of our training. Today we worked on defending an arm bar choke while keeping the second aggressor at distance with kicks. Great job everyone!
Monday night working on side kick as a counterattack after an outside defense against a punch coming from the side. The side kick is a powerful kick; possible targets are the ribs, the knee, the groin or even the head. Keeping good control of the balance is very important. The side kick is a good counterattack after an outside defense against a punch or a knife stab coming from the side.
Knife is one of the most common weapon use by aggressors in the street. A Knife is a extremely dangerous weapon because it is easy to handle, so stabs and slashes can be done in a very fast motion. As much as possible a defender should use objects to protect himself against the knife attacks. Common objects such as bags, chairs, even a laptop computer can be use as a shield to protect oneself against knife attack and increase the chance of survival. The shield is usually held with 2 hands to block the attack therefore counterattacks shall be done with kicks; to the groin, to the knees or to the abdomen.
This short video displays the drill that we practiced Thursday night to summarize the class on this subject. This drill is effective, fun, exiting and exhausting.
